Goodwater Capital has held an initial close for Goodwater Capital III, L.P., securing US $4 million from one unnamed BC investor. The closing, maybe its final closing, was held on April 30, 2018.
Goodmans LLP served as the Canadian counsel to San Mateo, California based Goodwater Capital.
With a target of US $350 million, Goodwater Capital’s third fund will be almost as large as its previous two funds combined. Goodwater Capital raised US $130 million and US $250 million for Fund I and II in 2014 and 2017 respectively.
Founded by Chi-Hua Chien, formerly a General Partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Eric J. Kim, formerly a Managing Director at Maverick Capital, Goodwater Capital focuses exclusively on consumer tech companies. Goodwater Capital’s Canadian portfolio company includes Modasuite dba Frank and Oak.
