UNLTD Inc., a Montreal based virtual and augmented reality (VR, AR) content and technology studio, has announced the closing of US $1.1 million seed round of financing.

The investment group is led by Vrvana investor Richard D. Adler of Interdomus and Rex Media Capital, and includes David Reckziegel of Rex Media Capital, Senvest Capital, Claude Gagnon, former president of Technicolor Creative Services, and Richard Bridgwood, former managing director of Entertainment One UK.

Richard Adler and Stuart “Kip” Cobbett of Rex Media Capital have joined UNLTD board of directors.

Funds will be used for continued expansion, providing full service branded VR/AR experiences for clients as well as the development of original virtual experiences for commercial distribution.

“Virtual and augmented reality are the next frontier in entertainment and branded content,” said co-founder and CEO, John Hamilton. “At UNLTD we are committed to driving immersive content to new levels. It’s an amazing new storytelling platform and we’re developing cutting edge production techniques for immersive content. With this funding, we have the opportunity to continue building on our current success with clients such as Universal Pictures (Fifty Shades Darker), A&E Networks (Fall Into Me) and brands such as L’Oréal Cosmetics and Intercontinental Hotels.”

“Virtual reality is a platform to provide experiences unlike anything we have ever seen before,” said Adler. “We believe VR/AR is the way of the future in entertainment and our investment in UNLTD shows our commitment to the growth and development of new businesses and applications for VR/AR/XR content and technology.”

UNLTD recently launched the extended VR trailer for “Trinity”, an interactive, science-fiction VR series, at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival in May 2017. The premise of “Trinity” is set in the future where humans have long been extinct. Androids, the last surviving beings on Earth, are fighting a final war for freedom against an all-powerful A.I., their god. “Trinity” is in post-production and the pilot episode will be released to select partners by fall of 2017. Patrick Boivin (“Dragon Baby”, “Little Ant-Man”) is directing “Trinity” with the UNLTD executive team members John Hamilton, Sebastien Gros and Robert Boulos producing.
