ALIMPLUS, A PORTFOLIO COMPANY OF WALTER CAPITAL PARTNERS, ACQUIRES AOF SERVICE ALIMENTAIRE

Montréal, January 28, 2019 – Alimplus is pleased to announce its acquisition of AOF Service Alimentaire (“AOF”), a Drummondville-based leader in the Québec foodservice industry that distributes a wide range of food products to customers in the hotel, restaurant and institutional sectors. As a result of this acquisition, Alimplus is now the largest independent food distributor in Québec, wholly-owned by Québecers, and determined to continue its growth path.

“The acquisition of AOF positions Alimplus to expand further by extending its geographic coverage in the east of Québec and complementing its strong presence in other parts of the province,” said Daniel Le Rossignol, President of Alimplus. “This enables us to provide efficient service on a larger scale by bringing us closer to our customers, who will also benefit from the combined strength of these two highly successful organizations.”

Alimplus already boasts two strategically located distribution centres serving the regions connecting Gatineau, Montréal and Québec City. The acquisition of AOF adds a third distribution centre of approximately 125,000 sq. ft. in Drummondville. Alimplus’ modern facilities also support the company’s growth in two main areas: Expanding its product offering and reaching new markets. In a highly fragmented industry, Alimplus is well positioned to continue consolidating the market and improving its leadership position in the region.

“We’re pleased that the family business we helped build will continue to grow and flourish within Alimplus,” said Hugo Ouellet, President and General Manager of AOF. “We chose Alimplus not only because it shares our vision and values, but also because it is Québec-owned and it will maintain our significant operations in Drummondville.”

Alimplus can also rely on its sister company, Mayrand, to complete its service offering. Mayrand operates as a warehouse store with an extensive variety of products for restaurants, caterers and other operators as well as the general public. This “cash and carry” concept, which moved to Anjou in 2016, is completely refreshed and updated and customers can shop without paying for membership. Expansion of the brand is currently underway with more stores set to open soon, starting in the Greater Montréal area.
