Congebec Inc., a portfolio company of Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins (CRCD), Fondaction CSN and Investissement Québec (IQ), has acquired Brampton, Ontario based Shamrock Cold Storage, Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Shamrock has developed a refrigeration expertise for the food supply chain recognized by Toronto’s market. Founder Mike Nother’s experience and expertise and his qualified employees will help consolidate Congebec’s new operations in Toronto and increase its presence within that market.

Shamrock’s clients’ food products will be transferred to Congebec’s storage facility in Toronto, therefore providing them with new distribution opportunities throughout the country. With Congebec’s transport services and its numerous storage facilities from East to West, new clientele will be offered a new range of opportunities for its market development strategies at a national level.

Founded in Québec City in 1974 by Laurier Pedneault, Congebec Logistic is the largest provider of refrigerated services in Québec, the second largest in Canada and the 12th largest in North America. With nearly 400 employees, the company is the only one to provide such services in Montréal and Québec City. Its clients are served by 12 modern facilities, totaling 1.5 millon square feet, located in Québec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins and Fondaction acquired control of Congebec in February 2015. Investissement Québec continued as an owner of the company.
