Regina-based tech company, Brew Ninja, closes CAD $650,000 seed round

(Monday, March 29, 2021) – Today, Brew Ninja, a B2B SaaS microbrewery management company, announced the closing of a CAD $650,000 seed round, exceeding its initial goal to raise $500,000. The seed round was led by Maple Leaf Angels (Toronto) with participation from Women’s Equity Lab (Vancouver), Capital Angel Network (Ottawa), York Angels, and VenturX (Montreal).

With an interest in the craft beer market, Brew Ninja Founder, Shea Martin, befriended a local brewer and soon saw a gap in software available to breweries. Accounting software was expensive and time consuming, brewing was being tracked on crumpled brew sheets, transfers and packaging often wasn’t tracked and sales staff operated like lone wolves, often resulting in lost sales or late deliveries. In 2019, Shea launched the Regina-based software service streamlining and creating efficiencies in the day-to-day operations within the brewery industry.

“Brew Ninja was created to help breweries manage all of their day-to-day operations in one spot including tracking inventory, invoicing, sales tracking, costing and reporting, as well as track all the data required for compliance with regional and federal regulations.” said Shea Martin, Founder, Brew Ninja. “Having a structured production and sales process creates efficiencies and compliance for breweries. The software saves a brewer on average 40 hours a month, allowing them to focus more time on what they do best – make great beer.”

Since launching, Brew Ninja has expanded across three different countries and serves breweries as small as 500hL/year to breweries doing over 20,000hL/year of production. With the latest funding and continued support from Canada’s National Research Council (NRC) IRAP Program, Brew Ninja will work to further expand its software, grow its team, and accelerate its growth into global markets.

“Our investors represent a great network that we will be able to leverage as we grow and scale Brew Ninja to the next level,” said Martin. “We have a lot of new and exciting developments coming, and we look forward to further growing the craft beer industry.”
