Canadian LPs commits US $1.21B to Baring Asia Private Equity Fund VIII

CPE News (10/2/2021) – Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA) has held an initial close for its eighth private equity fund, The Baring Asia Private Equity Fund VIII.

Baring Private Equity Asia, reportedly targeting US $8.5 billion for the 8th fund, has yet to make any announcement.

Canadian Limited Partner (LP) investors committed US $1.21 billion to the initial close.

BPEA’s 7th fund, The Baring Asia Private Equity Fund VII, closed in 2019 at its hard cap with total capital commitments of US $6.5 billion, US $738 million of which was committed by Canadian LPs.

Founded in Hong Kong in 1997, Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA) is one of Asia’s largest private alternative investment firms, with assets under management of over US $23 billion.

Baring Private Equity Asia manages a private equity investment program, sponsoring buyouts and providing growth capital to companies for expansion or acquisitions with a particular focus on the Asia Pacific region, as well as dedicated funds focused on private real estate and private credit.
