Cannabis financing Series 4: US investors largest cannabis funders

In 2018, Cannabis and related companies from Canada, USA foreign countries raised CDN $16 billion in equity and debt financing. Where did all this money come from?

In 2018, $10 billion cannabis investments (62% of the $16 billion total) can be traced back to funding sources.

In addition to Canadian and US investors, investors from 99 other countries participated in 2018 financings. US investors led with $6.03 billion (61%), almost doubling of the total amount invested by Canadian investors which amounted to $3.1 billion.

Top ten deals account for 50% of total amount in 2018

Top ten cannabis deals, all with size of $200 million or more, raised $8.07 billion accounting for 50% of the total amount raised.
