CIBC acquires Wellington Financial

CIBC (TSX/NYSE: CM) has launched CIBC Innovation Banking and acquired loan assets of Wellington Financial Fund V LP (WF Fund V Limited Partnership) as part of CIBC Innovation Banking. Financial terms were not disclosed.

WF Fund V is a $300 million 2015-vintage fund.

Wellington Financial is a privately-held provider of growth capital to early and mid-stage technology companies. Founded in 2000, Wellington Financial has raised five venture debt funds.

General partners of WF funds are management led by Mark McQueen and Clairvest Group Inc. (TSX: CVG). Clairvest is also a major limited partner in WF funds.
