H.I.G. Capital closes US $172M acquisition of SMTC Corporation

CPE News (4/6/2021) – H.I.G. Capital has completed previously announced acquisition of SMTC Corporation (NASDAQ: SMTX) for US $6.044 in cash for aggregate consideration of approximately US $172 million. SMTC Corporation’s common stock (SMTX) will cease trading on the Nasdaq exchange.

Cerberus Business Finance, LLC provided debt financing.

Founded in 1985, Markham, Ontario based SMTC Corporation is a global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider focused on partnering with leading original equipment manufacturers and emerging technology companies to provide the full range of end-to-end EMS services, from prototyping and design, to manufacturing and logistics. Red Oak Partners, LLC and Wynnefield Partners Small Cap Value, L.P. were two largest shareholders of SMTC, collectively controlled approximately 29% of SMCT outstanding shares.
