HomeTeam Live, a Saskatchewan based tech company, scores $450,000+ in pre-seed capital

Today, HomeTeam Live announces the closing of a CAD $450,000+ pre-seed capital raise. This is the company’s first round of funding, which was 200% higher than their initial goal, and includes external high net-worth investors, as well as angel investors from Saskatchewan and across Western Canada.

Co-founded by Tanner Goetz and Logan Fraser, HomeTeam Live’s streaming software provides broadcast-quality video for amateur sports, allowing parents, family, coaches, athletes, fans, and scouts the ability to log in and watch the event from anywhere in the world. The co-founders came up with the idea for HomeTeam Live after working in sports marketing for the last 10 years and seeing a lack of quality in streaming for sports leagues. With a large market in rural communities, the challenges of travel leaves distanced spectators without the ability to watch a sporting event live. When the pandemic hit in March 2020, the founders knew the idea to live stream amateur sports would be in greater demand as audiences were unable to attend events.

Since incorporating in June 2021, HomeTeam Live has evolved into a proficient live-streaming app including integrations with telecommunication organizations. The company has made strategic community partnerships with Grassland Ventures, Munz Media,, and has received incubator support through Cultivator powered by Conexus. In addition to acquiring an expansive executive advisory board, HomeTeam now has over 20 people working in sales, development, operations, and installations.

HomeTeam differentiates itself through the quality of video, proprietary software, content generation and revenue sharing aspects to its business model. In addition to being hardware agnostic, HomeTeam’s streams high definition local content to major broadcasters to maintain compliance with Canadian Radio Telecommunications Commission regulations. Associations and venues are primarily the first users of the app; then once onboarding a league, sports fans subscribe to watch the athletes’ games.

HomeTeam is proud to have the only amateur streaming app with additional content and advertising. Leagues are able to receive a percentage of revenue based on the number of subscribers through the sale of advertising. This creates a revenue stream for organizations to help fund their operations and keep sport viable in local communities.

“With the current funding round, we hope to cover most development costs on our current product roadmap for the HomeTeam Live app along with the build of an iOS and Android mobile app,” said Tanner. “We will focus on sales and revenue acquisition by building a business development team to expand into areas in Canada and the United States.” To learn more about HomeTeam Live, visit hometeamlive.com.
