Oak Hill and CPP Investments backed Berlin Packaging acquires Consolidated Bottle

CPE News (11/03/2020) – Berlin Packaging, a portfolio company of Oak Hill Capital Partners and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), has acquired Consolidated Bottle Corporation. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Established by the Korolnek family in 1910, Consolidated Bottle has 110+ years of experience supplying innovative plastic, glass and metal containers and closures across various industries, including personal care, pharmaceutical, cannabis, food, beverage and industrial.

The transaction significantly expands Berlin Packaging’s footprint in Canada, enabling the combined businesses to offer even more packaging solutions and value-added services to their customers.

All Consolidated Bottle employees and locations will be retained. Following the acquisition, the company will be known as Consolidated Bottle Corporation, a Berlin Packaging company.

Chicago based Berlin Packaging is the world’s largest Hybrid Packaging Supplier® of glass, plastic, and metal containers and closures.

In 2018, Oak Hill Capital Partners and CPP Investments completed a recapitalization of Berlin Packaging. CPP Investments invested US $500 million as part of the transaction.
