Sagard Private Equity Canada LP reaches $400M

CPE News (6.22.2022) – Sagard Holdings Inc. has announced its first private equity fund, Sagard Private Equity Canada LP (SPEC), has achieved its initial target fund size of $400 million ahead of schedule. The fund remains open for additional investors.

In November 2021, SPEC held a $200 million initial close with commitments from Canada Life, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Export Development Canada, Investissement Québec, BMO Financial Group, CIBC and Sagard Holdings.

The investment team of Sagard Private Equity Canada (SPEC) is led by Partners Marie-Claude Boisvert and Patrick Daignault.

In September 2021, Sagard Private Equity Canada, in partnership with Walter Capital Partners, Investissement Québec and BDC Capital, acquired LOU-TEC, which recently acquired Accès Location+, the aerial lift equipment rental specialist.

Sagard Private Equity Canada Announces Milestone of CAD$400M in Committed Capital for Inaugural Canadian Mid-Market Fund

Remains Open for Additional Investors

TORONTO, ON – June 22, 2022 – Sagard announced today that while the fundraising efforts are still underway, its first private equity fund, Sagard Private Equity Canada (“SPEC”), has achieved its initial target fund size of $400M ahead of schedule.

SPEC has invested in LOU-TEC, which recently acquired Accès Location+, the aerial lift equipment rental specialist. This transaction will strengthen LOU-TEC’s position as a Québec leader in the heavy machinery, tools, and specialized equipment rental industry.
