On April 20, 2017, Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) acquired SweetIQ Analytics Corp., a Montreal based provider of location and reputation management Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions.
Financial terms were not disclosed at the time of the announcement. Gannett has now disclosed the purchase price as US $31.5 million or CDN $42.5 million.
Co-founded in 2010 by CEO Mohannad El-Barachi and CRO Michael Mire, SweetIQ raised “several million” in seed funding from Real Ventures and $4.2 million in Series A in October 2015 from Plaza Ventures (lead), Rothenberg Ventures, Desjardins-Innovatech, Otimo Retail Group, and Real Ventures.
Real Ventures, Mire and El-Barachi were the top three shareholders of SweetIQ Analytics. The board of directors consisted of John Stokes of Real Ventures, Mire, El-Barachi, and Matthew Leibowitz of Plaza Ventures.
