Vista Equity Partners’ Social Solutions to acquire Athena Software

CPE News (1/28/2021) – Social Solutions, a portfolio company of Vista Equity Partners, has agreed to acquire Athena Software. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Pending satisfaction of all relevant and customary terms and conditions, including regulatory clearance under the Investment Canada Act, the transaction is expected to close in 60 days or sooner.

Founded in 2001 by Greg Stanley-Horn, his wife Diane Stanley-Horn and brother Kevin Stanley, Waterloo, Ontario based Athena Software is a leading provider of SaaS Case Management and Client Information Management solutions and services for health and social service agencies. Penelope, Athena Software’s flagship product, is a comprehensive client management SaaS solution used by thousands of not-for-profit organizations in the health and social services field around the world.

In addition to its Waterloo head office, Athena Software also has staff based in the U.S., Australia, and Europe.

The combined company will be named Social Solutions Global, with Erin Mulligan Nelson, CEO of Social Solutions, serving as CEO.

Two leaders in case management software will combine to accelerate technology innovation for social good organizations
