3D PLANETA REACHES $1M SEED INVESTMENT WITH CONCRETE VENTURES, NBIF

July 5, 2021

Earth observation tech startup 3D Planeta has reached $1 million in seed investment in its recent funding round with Concrete Ventures of Halifax, NS, and the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, of Fredericton, NB.

3D Planeta, based in Fredericton, NB, is at the forefront of the next generation of 3D earth observation, fusing geospatial data from satellites, aerial and water-based platforms to create powerful, intelligence-rich visualizations of any place on earth, both land and sea.

The funding round will enable 3D Planeta to complete the build of NAVEC, its SaaS platform, and be fully in-market by early 2022.

“Tom and I are happy to have the backing of two respected Atlantic Canadian investors. We started this company because we want to have a global impact from our homebase in New Brunswick and actively participate in building a strong regional economy,” said CEO Norm Couturier. “With these investment commitments, we are off to a great start.”

NAVEC provides 3D visualization and deep-learning analytics of air, land and sea for professionals in land exploration, emergency response, and defence and security to increase their situational awareness for safer and faster decision-making.

“3D Planeta gives professionals the ability to enhance situational awareness with instant 3D imagery of their operational environment. Until today, scalable and on-demand 3D imagery from any aerial source was not feasible for many decision-makers. The team at 3D Planeta has built a truly innovative technology platform to give industries the true three-dimensional data they need to gain new insights not traditionally available through 2D or simulated 3D data.” said Patrick Hankinson, Partner at Concrete Ventures.

3D Planeta is part of the growing movement of private sector corporations actively working to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. As part of that effort, it is a partner with 1% for the Planet, donating one percent of company sales back to the environment.
