CPE News (7/12/2021) – Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR) (TSX: SW) has announced that its board of directors has appointed Phil Brace as its new President & CEO, effective July 26, 2021. Kent P. Thexton, current President & CEO, will stay on until August 13, 2021 to complete the transition.
Brace is joining Sierra Wireless from Veritas Technologies where he currently serves as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations and Chief Sustainability Officer. Brace has previously held executive roles including President of Seagate Technology’s Cloud Systems and Electronic Solutions, Executive Vice President at LSI Corporation, and General Manager at Intel Corporation.
Brace holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Science from the University of Waterloo, and a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University-Sacramento.
Thexton served as interim President & CEO in May 2018 and assumed the position of President & CEO in November 2018. From May 2016 until October 2018, he was a co-founder and Managing Partner of ScaleUP Ventures Inc.From January 2014 to April 2016, Thexton was Managing Director of OMERS Ventures.
In January 2021, Thexton, 58, informed the board that he planed to retire from his position as President and CEO. Thexton has been a director of Sierra Wireless since 2005. Sierra Wireless did not say if Thexton is continuing as a director of the company.
